As Yu Jing's only drop troop the Tiger Soldier is pretty good. The BS-13 PH-12 WIP-14 makes it a pretty effective trooper. The ARM-2 is weak, but add to it CH: Mimetism and there's a good chance of surviving the initial drop.
The Light Flamethrower and Boarding Shotgun are the main options. The Boarding Shotgun gets an extra attack (B-2) and gets a +6 when up close (< 8") like you'll want to be in a drop troop deployment. It can also reach further than a Light Flamethrower since it has range to reach at least 16" without any negative MODs.
The Tiger Soldier's Mimetism is quite valuable in helping the trooper to survive by stacking negative modifiers on enemy troopers.
The Combat Jump is its own trick. Making it effective is the challenge. The Boarding Shotgun is DAM-14 B-2 so making it payoff is the key. Hitting more than a single target with the small tear drop template that extends from the initial target is a big bonus. Once the Tiger Soldier has made its initial attack it doesn't usually last very long if the landing zone is very full of enemy troopers as they tend to focus fire on the trooper.
Watch your back. This guy can drop at any time. Be careful not to over commit your resources. Remember that it only requires one trooper with LoF to the Tiger Soldier to use the Alert reaction to get any number of your troopers to bring your forces to bear on the drop soldier.
Tiger Soldier are a nice addition to any list but rarely is there any call for more than a single trooper. As long as you can use the 25 point Tiger Soldier to keep more than 25 points of enemy tied up watching for the Combat Jump its a good buy.
The value of the air deployment can sometimes be better as a threat if it keeps the opponent devoting more resources to watching for the Tiger Soldier to drop. Unfortunately it devotes an unusable order from your list to keep the opponent guessing.
If you can get the drop on a couple of soft targets in the opponent's deployment zone it can be a great way to cause some havok for the enemy. Watch for zones where the enemy has their back to you so you have a better chance of surviving the initial drop. Keep a bit of distance for the initial drop - you can move in closer when it comes time to take the shot with the next action.
Active Turn Role
The greatest challenge is to know when and where to drop this trooper. Watching for that requires paying attention to the board.
As an interesting option, consider dropping the Tiger Soldier into the enemy's deployment zone without attacking. If you have managed to garner the attention of enough enemy troopers it means there are fewer troopers facing your main line. You could opt to move forward while the enemy is distracted by your drop. So essentially you switch from using the Tiger Soldier in the active turn and waiting for ARO.
